Eersterust Football Association Elective Congress 2024

Eersterust Football Association (EFA), is scheduled to hold its elective congress on September 19, 2024. All EFA members in good standing will be eligible to vote on the day. EFA is an affiliate member of the Tshwane Regional Football Association.

The nomination process has been completed, and the report has already been shared with the members.

These positions will be contested:

The President
Three (3) Deputy Presidents, one (1) of whom shall be a female
General Secretary
Treasurer, and
Additional members (one (1) of which shall be female).

EFA observes its strict constitutional prescripts in eligibility for nominations, including the below:

The President and Secretary shall not serve on the Executive body of any Member,
The Members of the Local Executive Committee shall have been active in football, must not have been found guilty of a criminal offense, and have residency within the territory of Eersterust
The President shall not be an owner or have any interest, financial or otherwise, in any Football Club under the jurisdiction of The Local FA, and
The candidate for President must have served as an Executive Member of the local structure/body for at least five (5) years

The above are critical prescripts that most LFAs breach when electing officials into the executive structure. This creates occurrences of conflicts of interest, which are preventative by adhering to these prescripts.

The Tshwane Regional Football Association would like to congratulate EFA for this remarkable milestone. By doing this, EFA ensures that the executive structure operates within the properly promulgated mandate. We wish them success in this journey.

We wish for all the other LFAs to follow this example of enforcing the prescripts about candidate eligibility. This will facilitate reduced conflict of interest and improved focus on the LFA leadership. Remember, executive committee members are servants of all members, not a constituency, not their clubs. Executive Committee members must never be seen in any other capacity competing with their members. When it comes to football affairs in the locality, executive members must almost be single-track-minded. LFA success must be their preoccupation.
