Referees’ Readiness

During the weekend of the 11th and 12th of April, the regional referees were engaged in a skills development course, for which they also wrote exams. Congrats to all of them. Tshwane will lead in this aspect.

Referees will complete the registration prior to the weekend. Only registered referees will be appointed to the weekend fixtures.

It is important to note that at most three officials will be appointed per TRDL fixture: two match officials and one assessor. Each TRDL will be officiated by one official. When one officiates a match, the other prepares the next.

Player Registration

As of the morning of the 14th of April 2026, the player registration was running slowly. We are expecting a pickup in registrations on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of April. Clubs are urged to complete their registration by 18:00 on Thursday. Team lists and player cards will be sent electronically on the 16th.

Teams that owe from last season are requested to finalise their arrangements with the Operations Officer (Mr. Zakhele Ntuli) but must do so officially and transparently by sending such correspondence to info@tshwanerfa.org.za. It is not the purpose of the association to cause teams to fail to play this weekend, but teams must also fulfil their obligations to the association or at least make firm arrangements to that effect.

For teams owed money by the association, the Operations Officer has been tasked with finalizing those issues by this Thursday.

So all teams are allowed to register players. Approval will be granted only to teams that do not owe from last season and that have successfully secured firm arrangements.

Clubs must remember the following:

  • For TRDL Under 13 and Under 15 players, birth certificates are allowed, whether unabridged or abridged.
  • For under-17 players who are not 16 years old, it is recommended to register them as under-15, as cross-participation for up to 5 players is allowed.
  • For players who will be 16 years old this year and cannot obtain a passport or identity card, write to the association first to request an exemption. The office will consider those on a case-by-case basis.
  • Please, Please, Please, continue to apply for passports for Under 13 and Under 15 as these will be required for Round 2

University of Pretoria vs Sporting Arbitration Update

Both teams have been requested by the arbitrator to submit their heads of argument by Thursday, after which the arbitrator will finalise the process. As such, matches involving these teams have been suspended pending the outcome of the arbitration. However, it is expected that there will be a clearer direction for next weekend.

Pheli Young Stars Football Club’s Suspension from Phelindaba

Phelindaba Young Stars Football Club (PYS), which is a Member of the Phelindaba Local Football Association (PLFA), has been suspended by its LFA pending a disciplinary hearing. The region has also effected the suspension at the regional level as well, meaning that the PYS fixtures will be suspended until the PLFA hearing takes place and they are unsuspended.

We appeal to PLFA to expedite this hearing so that TRDL can get back on track with its fixtures, as this suspension really distabilises the league.

Let the games begin!
