The Tshwane Regional Football Association (TRFA) is pleased to announce that all 15 Local Football Associations (LFAs) that complied with the required administrative and verification processes have been paid in terms of the SHAKA Sponsorship for the 2025 Financial Year Junior League Winners.
The payments represent an important step in the TRFA’s ongoing efforts to address outstanding financial obligations to its affiliated LFAs and restore financial stability within the Region.
Financial Recovery and Accountability
The current Regional Executive Committee (REC) assumed office in December 2025, following a period during which the Association experienced significant financial challenges.
The TRFA has established that substantial funds were allegedly misappropriated between June and September 2025, resulting in serious financial pressure on the Association and its ability to meet its obligations to affiliated LFAs and other stakeholders.
When the current REC took office in December 2025, the Association’s financial position reflected a balance of approximately negative R107.
Through improved financial controls, responsible financial management, prioritisation of legitimate obligations, improved revenue and sponsorship management, and the commitment of the current leadership, the Association has since significantly improved its financial position.
The TRFA can report that its current balance has improved to approximately R220,000 positive.
This represents a significant turnaround from the financial position inherited by the current REC and demonstrates the commitment of the leadership to rebuilding the financial sustainability of the Association.
15 LFAs Paid
As part of the SHAKA Sponsorship arrangement supporting the 2025 Financial Year Junior League Winners, the TRFA has processed payments to all 15 LFAs that complied with the required verification and administrative requirements.
The TRFA acknowledges that these payments were outstanding and understands the frustration experienced by LFAs awaiting the funds.
The current leadership has made the settlement of legitimate obligations to affiliated LFAs a priority, while ensuring that all payments are processed through appropriate governance and financial controls.
Restoring Trust in Tshwane Football
The TRFA recognises that LFAs are the foundation of football administration and development in the Tshwane Region. The financial recovery achieved since December 2025 is therefore not merely a financial matter—it is part of a broader effort to restore confidence and credibility in the administration of football.
The TRFA’s approach is based on four key principles:
- LFA support
- Financial accountability
- Transparency
- Good governance
- Sustainable football development
Acknowledgement of SHAKA
The TRFA expresses its appreciation to SHAKA for its sponsorship and continued contribution towards the development and recognition of junior football in the Tshwane Region.
The sponsorship has enabled the TRFA to support and recognise the achievements of Junior League winners and provides an important contribution towards grassroots football development.
Looking Forward
The TRFA acknowledges that significant work remains to be done to fully address historical financial obligations and strengthen the Association’s financial sustainability.
However, the progress achieved since December 2025 demonstrates that financial recovery is possible when there is disciplined leadership, proper financial controls, accountability and a commitment to putting the interests of football first.
The payment of the 15 compliant LFAs is another important milestone in this process
The TRFA remains committed to working with all LFAs, clubs, sponsors and stakeholders to build a transparent, financially sustainable, accountable and development-focused football administration in Tshwane.
