Ga-rankuwa Getting Ready for the Elective Congress

Ga-rankuwa Local Football Association (GALFA) is preparing to go to the poll on October 26, 2024. This association faces many challenges, but not even those will stop GALFA from reaching the finish line.

During Heritage Day, September 24, 2024, GALFA held a briefing to update its Members of the progress in the preparation of the elective Congress. This meeting did more than updating the members; it also achieved critical alignment on the journey. TRFA is assured that from this point, the GALFA EXCO and the Members will be single-track-minded to reaching the finish line.

    1 Confirm which Electoral Body will be used between Region 1 Sports Council and TRFA, and share the organisation email address where nominations will be sent. 2024/09/25 Secretary Nominations must not be sent to someone’s personal email address.
    2 Send the Affiliation Form to all Members 2024/09/25 Secretary Affiliation is an annual process and ensures that changes in memberships structures and governanance is updated annually
    3 Send Elective Congress Agenda which includes meeting governance, elections, and special mandate for the new EXCO 2024/09/26 Secretary The Agenda of the Congress must be sent al least 30 days before. The special mandate provides for details on the issues that the new EXCO must resolve, to be submitted by Members.
    4 Submit completed and signed nomination forms to the electoral body (closure of the nomination period) 2024/09/26 Members Nominations must be submitted at least 30 days before the Congress (according to the GALFA Constitution)
    5 Submit report from the Briefing Session 2024/09/27 Secretary It was agreed that the discussions on the briefing session held two weeks ago must be reported on in terms of progress.
    6 Submit invoices to all Members 2024/09/27 Secretary Invoices with affiliation and outstanding payments must be send to Members, allowing Members to make payments in full within a 20 day period (special arrangement in view of the Congress date)
    7 Return Affiliation Forms with all the required documents 2024/09/28 Members Affiliation information is critical for Membership status.
    8 Submit the first Membership Status Report 2024/09/29 Secretary For transparency reasons, each Member needs to know if they are in Good Standing or not, to be able to remediate any deviations.
    9 Send reminder to all Member to send proposals / motions in relation with the special mandate agenda item of the Congress with due date being 10th of October 2024 2024/09/30 Secretary Enable submission of documents
    10 Confirm nominations with the nominated candidates 2024/09/30 Electoral Body Ensuring that all nominated candidates accept their nominations
    11 Submit nomination report to the Secretary 2024/10/03 Electoral Body Conclussion of the nomination process.
    12 Submit the second Membership Status Report 2024/10/06 Secretary For transparency reasons, each Member needs to know if they are in Good Standing or not, to be able to remediate any deviations.
    13 Send reminder to all Member to send proposals / motions in relation with the special mandate agenda item of the Congress with due date being 10th of October 2024 2024/10/07 Secretary Enable submission of documents
    14 Closing date for the submission of proposals / motions from Members 2024/10/10 Members Submission of documents to be discussed at the Congress
    15 Ratify the Nomination Report and proposals / motions from the Members 2024/10/12 EXCO Ownership of the nomination report and Congress documents
    16 Submission of Congress documents, including the Nomination Report to all Members. With these document, provide guidance to Members that should there be any query or counter proposal based on the submitted documents, such must be further submitted to the association by 19th October 2024. 2024/10/13 Secretary Congress documents to be submitted 14 days before Congress

    18 Send reminder to all Member to send proposals / the credentials with due date being 19th of October 2024 2024/10/13 Secretary Credentials to be submitted 7 days prior the Congress.
    19 Submit any queries and / or counter proposals to be entertained at the Congress based on the submitted documents 2024/10/19 Members To provide space to discuss queries and / or counter proposals
    20 Submit credentials 2024/10/19 Members RSVP for the Congress
    21 Send the Credentials report to Members 2024/10/21 Secretary To provide for transparency on the credentials
    22 Send Packaged queries / counter proposals to Members 2024/10/21 Secretary Proivide for additional discussion points on the communicated agenda items.
    23 Hold the Congress 2024/10/26 All Finalisation

    TRFA is comforted by the fact that some of the GALFA Members have already started lobbying, and have preferred candidates. This is good because it means that there are people willing to serve. The region is on standby to provide the required induction to the new EXCO.
