The Regional Executive Committee of the Tshwane Regional Football Association has finally set the date for its Ordinary Congress. It was initially scheduled for November 2024 but was postponed due to the need for in-depth attention to some reports. Congress shall now take place on June 14, 2025. Formal notices have been sent out to Members.
The region takes the governance aspect of running football very seriously. We understand that we run association football, heavily regulated by FIFA, all the way down to the local football associations. Congress is a crucial element of football governance.
The region profusely apologizes for the postponement of Congress, first and foremost, and for the delay in reconvening it. It is our understanding that Congress should never need to be postponed nor be held as a malicious compliance exercise. It means that the executive must be fully prepared to have Congress at least two months in advance. In doing so, we must ensure that documents are received in time from Members. Together with the executive’s documents, Congress Packs must be sent on time to the Members. In addition, credentials must be received from Members. All of these things must have audit trails for later scrutiny if so required.
After this Congress, the next one will be held promptly in November 2025.
